Cairns Weather

Cairns can be found in the Tropical North region of Queensland, Australia and because of this position south of the equator the weather there is generally hot and humid in the summer months whilst the winter months are slightly milder and drier.

Heaven for holiday makers, Cairns has so much to offer and the perfect weather to scout around in.

As in most of the northern parts of Australia, Cairns experiences two main seasons. The wet season (which begins in December and finishes in April) is monsoonal meaning that even though it is the warmer months, rainfall is at a maximum. The dry season (commencing in May and ending in November) occurs during the cooler months and even though it is considerably drier than the wet season, the dry season still experiences frequent rainfall.

Typical day time temperatures in the Winter months (or dry season) can reach as high as 26 degrees Celsius (or 78 degrees Fahrenheit) whilst the Summer months it can get as hot as 33 degrees Celsius (or 91 degrees Fahrenheit).

Surrounded by sunny beaches, beautiful rainforests and even one of the seven wonders of the natural world, The Great Barrier Reef, Cairns is a wonderful place to relax and enjoy the pleasures of Far North Queensland
